GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS

A Student of Leuca School should be a model to all
1. Good manners, obedience, cleanliness, honesty, punctuality, integrity, credibility, sense of righteousness, unselfishness and dedication to his duties should be the motto of every student.
2. Students are requested to adhere to the rule of language and speak “Only English” once they are inside the school campus.
3. Students are requested to stick to the school routine and the late comers will not be allowed to enter school premises and the gate will remain closed after 9.00 a.m. Students are to be punctual and regular.
4. The students should wear neat and clean school uniform. If they are not in full school uniform, the reason should be ascertained to the class teacher or principal and if need arises they may be send home to put on the correct uniform.
5. All students should attend the school assembly. When the bell rings for that purpose students should go out of their class rooms in a single line and stand in the assembly as directed.
6. As soon as the students come to school they should go to their respective class rooms. If it is highly necessary, then only they should go out of the class rooms.
7. When pupils are moving along corridors or staircases, they should keep to the left and walk in single, keeping a reasonable distance between one another.
Running, playing or shouting inside the school building are strictly prohibited.
8. Irregular attendance, habitual negligence in school work, dishonesty, obscenity in words or actions, serious misconduct or threats even outside school are sufficient reasons for dismissal.
9. Pupils who absent themselves for any of the terminal examination for any reason, other than sickness, justified by a doctor’s certificate, will be considered failed in that particular examination.
10. Students who fail to show interest and progress in studies will be asked to leave the school without prior notice. They should be up-to-date in their works.
11. Private tuition, use of guides, printed notes etc. either at home or in the school are very much discouraged and the students are exhorted instead to depend more on their teachers, texts and library.
12. Students are permitted to stay in the school premises for games etc. only upto 5 p.m. The School authorities will not be responsible for children once they leave the school.
13. Any damage done to the school property or that of other students will have to be repaired.
14. No child suffering from any contagious or infectious disease will be allowed to attend the class.
15. Pupils must bring their school diary every day. No books, other than school books may be brought to the school.
16. Buying sweets and eatables from street vendors will be considered as a serious breach of discipline and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken aganist the offenders.
17. Study materials will be available in the store.
18. No student is allowed to use ball pen or dot pen. Students are requested to use ink pen to improve their hand writing.
19. Home works should be done and shown to the teachers and get it signed with dates. Those who fail to do the home works will be punished and those who repeatedly neglect will be promptly penalized.
20. Students should stand up and greet the teacher as he / she enters the class room. So also students should stand up and say “Thank you”. “Sir / Madam / Miss” as the teacher leaves the class room after the lesson.
21. If the teacher is inside the classroom, one should seek permission to enter the class and also to leave the class.
22. Students, without the permission of the teacher, should not write anything on the black board.

24. Fighting, teasing, bullying and other antisocial activities will not be permitted in the school campus. Those who engage in these activities will be severly punished and even send out of the school.
25. The students should greet the teachers whenever and wherever they meet them outside the class room.
26. Parents may be called and informed of the poor performance and bad behaviour of the students.
27. The notebooks and text books of the students will be inspected once in a month by the class teacher. The class prefects will be asked to collect and submit them to the class teacher.
28. Developing good handwriting should be given importance and as such active interest should be taken in copy writing, cursive writing etc.
29. No toys and play materials like ball, bat etc. should be brought to school without permission. If the unlawful things are traced the owners will be punished and the things will be confiscated.
30. During the lesson the students should not move from seat and cause disturbance to the class.
31. If a student wants to ask a question or clear a doubt he / she should stand up and get permission to ask question or clear the doubt.
32. Do not sit down and talk to the teacher as it shows disrespect. If you want to talk to the teacher then stand up and talk.
33. During the break, do not rush out of the class, go slowly in a line.
34. No request for revalution or re-examination will be entertained.
35. Keep your class rooms neat and tidy in every respect as it reflects your sense of beauty.
36. Students should have an active role to play in the school assembly. The school prefect will command the assembly and lead the pledge. The school choir will sing the school anthem and National anthem. Another student will read the “News of the day”. Yet another student will give a speech or recite a poem (not taking more than 4-5 minutes).
37. The school authorities will not be responsible for the loss of money, articles of students and for any injury that might happen accidently.
38. If no teacher has come to the class, the class leader should maintain the discipline of the class. After three minutes if the teacher has not yet come, the leader should send his assistant to inform the principal.
39. Running, playing or shouting inside the school building and the verandas are never allowed. No student should leave the school premises during the class hours without the permission of the principal.
40. No student should loiter around the school compound before and after the school hours.
41. Pupils are forbidden to organise or attend any meeting in the school or collect any fund for any purpose without the permission of the principal.
42. The principal can amend any rules or introduce new rules without prior notice and such rules will be binding to everybody.
43. During the pooja holidays there will be retreat for catholic students. It is compulsory for all Catholic Students. There will be Holy Mass on Thursdays, all the Catholic Students are requested to attend the Holy Mass.
44. There will be orientation for parents, students and teachers.

LABORATORY RULES

1.Laboratory fee will be charged for science Streams classes.
2.Apparatus and materials may be used only for purpose sanctioned by the teacher. Pupils must not perform unauthorised experiments.
3.Nothing is to be taken from the laboratory and no apparatus borrowed without the permission of the teacher in charge.
4.Any mishap, cut, burn, scald substance in mouth or on clothes must be reported to the teacher at once. Nothing may be tested or experimented with/ without definite instruction from the teacher.
5.Breakage and faults of all kinds should be reported to the teacher at once (including leakage of gas taps, frayed insulation on electric wiring etc.)
6.When the practical periods are over, apparatus must be kept clean and tidy in the places from which it was taken, all taps and switches must be left turned off, seats must be kept clean and tidy.
7.Water, gas, electricity etc. must not be wasted. All materials must be used economically. Waste solids must be put in the boxes provided, and not in the sinks.
8.When in doubt, seek the help of the teacher.

LIBRARY

School has a lending library cum reading section “Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body”. Hence students should form the habit of reading good literature. They must take proper care of the school library books and magazines used by them.
1.Strict silence is to be maintained in the library.
2.No damage should be caused to the library books.
3.If a book is lost or damaged it should be replaced by the student responsibile for it and a fine of Rs.10/- will be charged.
4.Magazines and periodicals will not be issued.
5.Books will be issued only on producing the borrower’s ticket and only one book should be taken at a time.
6.No student is allowed to keep a book more than a fortnight. If he / she fails to return the book on the prescribed date, will be fined.
7.All the books should be returned before the beginning of each exam.

TRANSFER CERTIFICATE

Application for transfer certificate must be submitted to the Principal – in the prescribed form, available at the school office

PARENTS, PLEASE NOTE

1.Parents are expected to co-operate with the school authorities in enforcing regularity and discipline of their wards and in inculcating the habit of hard work and systematic learning. Parents will be to ensure that: (a) Fees are paid on scheduled dates. (b) Children attend the school in full neat uniform with the required books and writing materials.
2.Parents are advised to look into the pupils diary for any intimation from the school and also check their note books and see that their children do their home-work noted in it.
3.Intimations from the school must be signed duly.
4.Parents are specially requested to inform the school of any change of address.
5.Criticising the teachers in the presence of your children should be avoided because it may cause lack of respect for their teachers. If you have a legitimate complaint, please see the principal as early as possible. Anonymous letters are not welcome.
6.Withdrawal of children from classes during the school time is not permitted. Parents who want to take their children to hospital etc. are advised not to send their children to school for one session or both the sessions as the case maybe, but produce a leave letter.
7.A student failing twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue in the school.
8.Practising English conversation at home is helpful to the students to improve spoken English.
9.Parents are not allowed to meet the students or their teachers during class hours without the permission of the principal.
10.Parents are requested to contact the teachers in their “off” period for which an appointment should be arranged before hand. But any account they will not be allowed to go to the class room.
11.Parents should not fail to attend classwise PTA meeting, the date of which will be duly communicated.
12.Discouraging your children from practising in school activities is not advisable because it retards their progress in school and minimizes their respect for regular hard work.
13.As your children advance in age, guide them to become resourceful and useful members of both home and society. Encourage self help in work and study. They should be taught to keep the house neat and tidy, polish their own shoes, wash the plates at home etc. The formation of such habits early in life inculcates in them the idea of the dignity of work. A fundamental personal value for a successful life.
14.If a pupil is likely to be absent due to illness for a specific period, the principal must be informed within two days.
15.Parents are requested to lodge complaints if any, with the principal and not directly to the teacher.
Principal’s decision is final and binding to all, in academic and administrative matters of the school.
